He is in the Details

Tuesday, August 27, 2024

View Full Post   This summer I put out a hummingbird feeder on our patio. It had been years since I had done this. I had seen the occasion humming bird hanging around our brightly colored landscaping and I thought they may enjoy a feeder as well. At first, we had one visitor at the feeder, then two. I was so excited...We had a pair! My husband and I even named them, with the help of our grandkids, Hot Dog and Marshmallow. Then another bird couple arrived and the competition for the feeder began. They're constantly flying back and forth trying to gain dominance of the feeder. Watching their activity makes me smile.

We Can Do Nothing Apart From Him

Tuesday, August 20, 2024

View Full Post   A family friend that I grew up went home to Jesus this week after battling cancer. Brad’s legacy was one of strength, kindness, and a profound commitment to both his loved ones and his community. His spirit and interactions with others resonated deeply with those around him. What should have been a horrible time in his life turned out to be a beautiful testimony of his faith and where his hope came from.

He Reigns & Pours Blessings

Wednesday, August 07, 2024

View Full Post   They say when it rains, it pours. We've seen a lot of that recently. I love sunshine so I'm tired of the rain at this point and am ready for it to be done for a while. There have been some devastating, negative consequences from the storms and rain we've seen this week. I pray you've made it through with no major issues. Rainy days make me feel gloomy so I went on the hunt in His Word for the "rainbow" or promise in the midst of our downpours in life. I want to share with you how God used rain as a reminder of His goodness.

Beautifully Broken

Tuesday, July 23, 2024

View Full Post   Last week my husband and I went on vacation to St. Augustine Beach, and it was one of the highlights of our summer. We love to watch the rolling waves and walk hand-in-hand along the shoreline collecting seashells. To our surprise, the ocean delivered lots of treasures to choose from during this trip. Occasionally we would find a shell we deemed worthy of keeping. We had certain requirements...It had to be unique in color, no chips or cracks; we were looking for “perfect” shells. But then we had a realization and began thanking God that our standard of beauty and value isn’t His. We all go through the storms of life. Some of us will look more worse for wear than others. It doesn’t diminish our value.

Letting Go & Trusting God

Monday, July 08, 2024

View Full Post   If you’re getting ready to see your baby off to kindergarten or college, you may be holding onto them tighter these days. Despite our best intentions to trust God with our children, worries and fears can still fill our minds. When our children start new phases of life, it’s hard not to worry. Growing up is hard, not just for kids, but for parents, too. When our kids enter new seasons of life so do we, and trusting God with our children becomes more important — and maybe even harder — than ever before.

The Easiest Way to Cut a Watermelon

Monday, July 01, 2024

View Full Post   Watermelon is one of nature's BEST treats in the summer but can be messy to cut and eat. Here's a way to make it simple and more mess-free.

Victory is His

Tuesday, June 25, 2024

View Full Post   Have you ever been up against something that seemed so difficult that you weren't sure how you were going to make it to the other side? My son-in-law, Jake, recently went through one of those times. Seven…

Abba

Tuesday, June 11, 2024

View Full Post   Recently I was on a plane flight and was seated next to a father and his young son who was about four years old. The little boy had curly brown hair, big brown eyes and the sweetest voice. From the moment I heard them talking, I recognized they were speaking Hebrew. The little boy was obviously excited to be flying on a plane, wiggling in his seat, asking lots of questions. Over and over, I heard, "Abba? Abba? Abba?"

Love, Joy, Peace & Pie

Thursday, May 23, 2024

View Full Post   Summer is here which means it’s time to make my husband’s favorite dessert, key lime pie. It never fails, whenever I serve him a slice, he has a big smile on his face and it’s obvious he feels loved by my gesture. There are several ingredients that go into the pie to make it the yummy treat it is. It reminds me of the attributes of the fruits of the spirit and how we’re called to use those gifts to live in our community & love others. Here are some examples:

Make Heaven Crowded

Wednesday, May 15, 2024

View Full Post   Make Heaven Crowed...It’s a saying you may see on a t-shirt or water bottle sticker. As a follower of Jesus, I couldn’t agree with that more! We are called to shine brightly and share the hope of our savior with others. The question is, are we truly doing that?
