Where is your focus?

Tuesday, April 29, 2025

View Full Post   In the late 1990s Ty Warner created the Beanie Babies series, which became wildly popular in a short amount of time. My first daughter was born in 1997, and I got caught up in the craze purchasing several beanies for the nursery. People would scope out the latest and greatest beanies, some of them being highly desirable because of their rarity. Even before one would be purchased, folks would be thinking about the next one they would want. “I don’t have this one or this one or this one …” They focused on what they lacked. All too often my focus is not on my blessings either, but rather what I wished I had. Can you relate?

Words That Hurt

Monday, March 24, 2025

View Full Post   Words are powerful. We often don’t realize the impact they can make until we’re the ones receiving sharp comments from someone else. When they cut our hearts like a knife, they leave us wounded and believing lies. Unfortunately, I’ve spoken words I should not have and have been the target of unkindness as well. Whatever has left you brokenhearted, I want you to be reminded that God sees you as His dearly loved child.

When It Rains, It Pours

Thursday, March 06, 2025

View Full Post   It’s been said countless times, when someone is dealing with one challenge after another...When it rains, it pours. It’s hard to make sense of it when you’re going through a storm and suddenly it becomes a typhoon. It can leave you reeling, trying to figure out where God is amid it all. I can tell you from experience though, not a single drop from your downpour of struggles is wasted. Jesus has a purpose for all of it.

Consider the Daffodils

Tuesday, February 18, 2025

View Full Post   It made me smile when I saw them pop up in my landscaping the other day. The appearance of bright yellow daffodils is a sure sign spring is on its way. Considering how cold it’s been, the fact that they’re blooming amazes me. Early on a chilly morning the flowers look sad as they droop from the frost, but by the afternoon, they’re standing tall in the sunshine.

Time to Check Your Heart

Wednesday, February 05, 2025

View Full Post   This is the month where there are pink and red hearts everywhere you look. It's a reminder to love on those closest to us, but also to love others as God loves us. That’s not always an easy task though. Sometimes we have walls up and fracture relationships from being hurt in the past. That's why it's a good idea to check your heart from time to time.

White as Snow

View Full Post   From hurricanes to snowstorms, the weather in the CSRA has been anything but typical over the last few months.
