A Fresh Start

Welcome to a new year! As we turn the page to 2025, the New Year offers us a chance to wipe the slate clean and begin anew. In 2 Corinthians 5:17, we read, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” This is more than just a catchy phrase; it’s a promise from God that no matter what happened last year, we can step into this year with renewed hope and purpose.

Think about how every year, we often set resolutions or goals, whether it's getting fit, learning a new skill, saving money or spending more time with loved ones. These intentions reflect our desire for change and growth, mirroring God’s desire for us to thrive. In Philippians 3:13-14, Paul encourages us to “forget what is behind and strain toward what is ahead.” It’s a powerful reminder that, like an athlete training for a race, we need to keep our eyes on the finish line. Just as a runner doesn’t dwell on past performances but instead focuses on the race ahead, we too can let go of past disappointments and embrace the possibilities before us.

God has great plans for each of us, even when we can’t see them yet. Sometimes, we get caught up in trying to figure everything out on our own, but Proverbs 16:9 reminds us, “In their hearts, humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” This means that while it’s great to have goals, we also need to trust that God knows what’s best for us. Just like a gardener nurtures seeds, God is working behind the scenes, preparing the soil of our lives for whatever He’s planting this year. It might not always look like what we expected, but His plans are always for our good.

So, as we step into this New Year, let’s take a moment to reflect on what fresh starts mean for us personally. What dreams have been on your heart? What steps can you take to move toward them? Let’s invite God into our plans and ask Him to lead us on this journey. Remember, every day is a new opportunity to experience His grace and goodness. Embrace this year with excitement and expectation, ready to discover the endless possibilities that God has in store for you!
