It's Time To Make Time
Posted on Jul 17, 2025 by Jenny Bender
Life gets crazy busy, right? Between work, family, and all the little things in between, it’s easy to let the really important stuff—like prayer and Bible reading—get pushed to the side. But here’s the truth: making time for God isn’t just another task on our to-do list; it’s the foundation that keeps everything else steady. Jesus said in Luke 10:41-42, “Martha, Martha… only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better.” It reminds us that amidst all the hustle, choosing time with God is always what matters most.
I’ll be honest: it’s tough to carve out that sacred time. I leave for work at 6:30 a.m. each day and return home around 3:30 p.m.I spend 8 hours in the office and a total of 1 hour (more if there’s traffic) on the road each day. When you’re trying to cram in dinner, exercise, errands, quiet time, quality time, cleaning, hobbies (who even has time for hobbies?) and enough rest, all into a precious few hours before going to bed and starting it all over the next day, those hours from 3:31 p.m. to 6:29 a.m. fly by way too fast. In further transparency, there are days when quiet time & reading the Bible just don't make the cut on my daily to-do list. It’s not purposeful and I’m certainly not proud of it. I feel the stress and the pressure to find more time for the people and things that matter most to me, and I can’t count how many times I’ve thought, “There aren’t enough hours in my day!” (True story: I actually asked ChatGPT to help me build a daily schedule so that I can make time for what’s truly important. Yep, AI and prayer time sitting side-by-side!) But here’s the cool part: when we intentionally set aside moments for God—whether it’s reading a verse, journaling, or just sitting quietly in prayer—we’re inviting His peace and guidance into our day. Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path,” and honestly, without that light, we can feel pretty lost.
So, if you’re like me and life sometimes feels like a whirlwind, I encourage you to be purposeful about your time. Maybe that means getting creative—setting reminders, using tools, or even letting AI help you plan your day! But no matter how it happens, make space for the One who holds your heart. Because when you do, everything else starts falling into place, one prayer and page at a time.
