Peace Over Perfection

It's Thanksgiving week! Soon the leftovers will be gone, and the holiday rush will begin. During this festive but frantic time of year, our calendars fill up, to-do lists triple in size, and it’s easy to lose sight of what this season is supposed to be about—peace, joy, and the presence of God. Instead, we often find ourselves juggling expectations, comparing decorations, or stressing over how to make everything “just right.”

But maybe this year, the best gift that we can give ourselves is to slow down. To choose peace over perfection. Because real peace doesn’t come from having everything under control—it comes from knowing the One who is in control. When our hearts are fixed on Jesus, even the chaos can’t shake our calm. We don’t have to earn peace by managing every detail; we simply rest in the truth that Jesus already brought peace to our world and to our hearts.

So, in those moments when the stress starts to rise, pause and whisper this simple prayer: “Lord, I trust You with this.” It’s amazing how those few words can reset our perspective. The gift wrapping, the baking, the parties—they’re all temporary. But the peace of Christ? That’s eternal.

So as you head into this busy season, hold onto peace. Not the fragile kind that depends on perfect plans, but the steady, unshakable peace that comes from staying close to the Prince of Peace Himself: Jesus.
