Every Season Has A Reason

Summer is here! CSRA heat & humidity can be brutal, and it’s hard to imagine that we were wearing sweaters not that long ago. I’ll admit that I’m not the biggest fan of summer. I don’t like hot weather and I’d much rather be chilly, cuddled up the fire instead of sweating at the lake. Here’s the thing, though: hot, sweaty weather may not be my favorite – but it serves a purpose. It allows plants to grow & flourish and is a necessary part of the cycle that God designed for nature.

Summer is a season of warmth and abundance. It's a time when we enjoy the fruits of our labor and experience the blessings of God's provision. This season reminds us of Jeremiah 17:7-8, which says, "Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord...He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream." Just as the trees thrive in the summer sun, we can trust that God will continue to sustain us.

Not far behind summer comes autumn, then winter, followed by spring...and the circle begins again. Just like each season is marked by new growth, loss and change, we’ll also experience transitions, loss, or challenges in the different seasons of our life. But we can take comfort in knowing that even when it’s not comfortable, God is still at work. Romans 8:28 reminds us that "we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose."

Leaves wouldn’t change in the fall if they didn’t flourish in the summer. They wouldn’t flourish in the summer if they didn’t bloom in the spring. And they wouldn’t bloom in the spring if they hadn’t been dormant, preparing for the new growth.

There’s hope in the words of Ecclesiastes 3:1, which reminds us, “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven." Just as the flowers bloom and the birds sing, leaves change, fall to the ground, and winter makes way for new growth, God is working in our lives, preparing us for new opportunities and a fresh start.

Just like the changing weather, each season of life will have its own unique challenges, celebrations, heartbreak & blessings. It's important to remember that God has a purpose for each season that He allows us to go through. Through every season of joy and abundance or facing difficult times, God is with you, guiding you every step of the way.

In every season of your life, God has a purpose. Whether you’re experiencing the joys of spring, the abundance of summer, the changes of autumn, or the rest of winter, trust in God's plan and lean on His promises. As we navigate through the seasons, draw closer to God. Seek His guidance, knowing that He's with you through it all, continuing the good work that He began in YOU!
