One Step At A Time

Life doesn’t always give us a clear map. One minute things make sense, and the next, we’re standing at a crossroads with no clue which way to go. Whether it’s a job loss, a health scare, a broken relationship, or just a deep feeling of “What now?”—uncertainty can be unsettling. But here’s the good news: God isn’t uncertain. Proverbs 3:5–6 reminds us, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” You may not see the whole path, but He does—and He’s walking it with you.
Abraham led by example, trusting God even when he didn't understand what God was up to. God told Abraham to leave everything familiar—his home, his people, his comfort—and go “to the land I will show you.” (Genesis 12:1). No map. No step-by-step plan. Just faith. And Abraham went. Not because he had all the answers, but because he trusted the One who did. That same God is leading you, too. You don’t have to figure it all out—you just have to follow. This isn't just plucky optimism or naive faith; our trust in God is never misplaced because we know that His plans for us are good (Jeremiah 29:11) and He works all things together for our good (Romans 8:28)
In real life, trusting God can feel risky. It might mean taking a job that doesn’t make perfect sense on paper but brings peace. Or staying in a season longer than you’d hoped because God hasn’t released you yet. It could be choosing forgiveness over bitterness, even when your feelings say otherwise. Trust isn't passive—it’s active obedience even when clarity is missing. Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Not a floodlight. A lamp. Just enough light for the next step.
So if you’re in a season where you’re not sure what’s next, you’re not alone—and you’re not lost. God knows the way forward, even when you don’t. He sees the full picture, even if you're standing in the middle of a puzzle. So breathe. Pray. Take the next step in faith. He’s not just the God of certainty—He’s the God who is faithful in the uncertain.
